Caritas International in Belgium
Since 1984, Caritas International has collaborated with the International Organization for Migration (OIM) and Fedasil in the domain of voluntary return. The intention behind this collaboration is to help migrants in the preparation for their return voyage and in the organization concerning financial costs needed for the necessary transport (airport or bus ticket). For immigrants from developing nations subject to the visa requirement, the return candidate can obtain a bonus that will be returned to him/her in cash at the time of their departure at the airport.
The social service team (CAW Brabantia – Antenne Caritas International) organizes daily drop-in services in Brussels from Monday-Friday 8:45 am until 16:30 pm. In the morning, an individual meeting with a social worker can be guaranteed the same day. Return candidates can present themselves during the drop-in services without an appointment in order to be informed about voluntary return and the perspectives in the country of origin. Social services work closely with the reintegration team. A tailored and specific importance will be placed on the context of the vulnerability and confidence of each person.

We try to inform and help people think about the best solution. We attempt to offer independent and verifiable information concerning the possibilities and perspectives in the country of origin and in Belgium. The voluntary return program at the national level is financed by the Belgian government through the federal agency Fedasil, and is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (OIM)
