Nepal is 147,181 km² in size. The country shares a 2810 km border with India and China. Nepal was hit by two earthquakes on 25 April and 12 May 2015. The effects were devastating: over 8000 deaths and more than 8 million people lost access to sanitary and social services. Caritas came to the aid of the most vulnerable via its network and began reconstruction and development projects that will continue until 2017.
