The Logis de Louvranges (Wavre) project has existed for 5 years and since then, dozens of women, labeled “asylum seekers”, have been welcomed with their children. “We have learned a lot from these women and we want to celebrate them with a party that will bring together a varied audience,” says the team.

Logis ?

The Logis de Louvranges is an initiative of Caritas International. Since 2010, they have been hosting single women or women with children as part of their asylum procedure. The project consists of accompanying, for the duration of their asylum procedure, those in a situation of vulnerability due to their experiences in their country of origin or their journey into exile.

The 21 fully-equipped apartments are located on the same site, which creates a collective dimension and alleviates the feeling of isolation among these women. The main objective of the support work is to promote their autonomy and their “empowerment”, so as to prepare them better in the future “after Louvranges” in Belgium or elsewhere.

5 years already?

On the occasion of the 5th anniversary, the Logis de Louvranges celebrated this Sunday, September 13th. The programs going in throughout the day: antiques, books and toys, and various activities for youths as well as the elderly: cooking workshops, photo exhibitions, visit of the Logis, wooden games, and an inflatable castle. The group of musicians “Colombia tropical” is in charge of setting the mood.

The festive atmosphere made it possible for all of them to get to know the Logis team to explain the work that they are doing and work towards more exchanges of culture and experience with the neighborhood.
