A large-scale relief effort
From the very first hours following the earthquakes, our colleagues at Caritas Venezuela took action.
Thousands of staff members and volunteers distributed relief packages and prepared meals, while also taking the time to listen to the victims and offer them comfort. Thanks in part to your donation to support those affected, the staff and many volunteers of Caritas Venezuela have already been able to:
- distribute more than 18,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including 8,000 tonnes of water;
- prepare and distribute almost 14,000 food kits containing maize flour, rice, pasta, beans, canned tuna and sardines, and sugar;
- prepare and distribute more than 9,000 hygiene kits containing bleach and soap, a bucket with a lid, brooms and brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, water purification tablets and sunscreen;
- distribute almost 100,000 items of medical equipment and medicines.
The needs remain immense
Almost 23,000 families, representing an estimated 92,000 to 115,000 people, have already received assistance. Hospitals and health centers have also been supported. But the needs remain immense. Our colleagues on the ground and the 7,500 volunteers who have been mobilised want to help even more people.
By making another donation today, you will continue to directly support Caritas Venezuela’s emergency response.
