The law from 12 January 2007 states that every asylum seeker in Belgium is entitled to reception from the moment the refugee submits the request and for the duration of the procedure. Fedasil, the federal agency for the reception of asylum seekers, assigns them a reception location in a collective centre or in individual housing, depending on how vulnerable the person is.
Caritas International has been organising the reception of asylum seekers in individual homes for 15 years.
