WHY HAVE YOU BECOME A SOLIDARITY OWNER?
Catherine: “We lived in Lebanon, 10 kilometers from Syria, for two years. We were touched by the situation and wanted to firmly help. We heard the call from Caritas, who was looking for solidarity owners, and we passed on this call to our friends. Thanks to our small network, we found a modest house to be renovated and thanks to these friends and acquaintances, we have restored, repainted and found furniture. It was great: everyone wanted to do something concrete, tangible. Some gave time, others bought a fridge, mattresses and duvets. “
YOU HAVE FOUND MORE THAN A place to live?
Catherine: “Indeed, we created a group of motivated volunteers. Every day, someone goes to see Nabil and Fadia as in their culture it is rare to remain alone and it is remarkable but we already see that bonds of friendship are being formed. There are cultural exchanges that are taking place and it is great to see. All volunteers want to taste their coffee. “
HOW DO YOU SEE THIS SUPPORT FOR THE FUTURE?
Catherine: “We hope to support them until the children go to school or Nabil and Fadia go in for language classes, occupational training, or work, in fact, until they create a little of their own network, but for now, they need our contacts. Then, if one day they move, our group of volunteers will be ready to welcome the next family. ”
