Jordan is one of the three neighbouring countries of Syria that takes in high numbers of refugees, just like Lebanon and Turkey. The influx of refugees does not make things easy for the local population: they are faced with a financial crisis never experienced before, too much demand on public services (heath care and education, etc.), an increase in rent prices and increasing impoverishment.
Caritas International supports Caritas Jordan in providing humanitarian assistance to refugees in different cities spread over the area (only 15% of them live in official camps). We also help the most vulnerable Jordanian families. Furthermore, we work on better accessibility to education. That is the only way to provide the children with a better future.
